Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 17th district since replacing Mike Honda in 2017, has released a series of tweets addressing recent job losses due to business closures in several states.

On April 18, 2025, Khanna tweeted about significant job losses at MasterBrand Cabinets LLC in Colton, California. He stated, "246 jobs were lost when cabinet producer MasterBrand Cabinets LLC, in Colton, California, halted production due to a sharp decrease in product demand."

In another tweet on the same day, Khanna highlighted a similar situation with Akasol, Inc., a battery manufacturer. He noted that "Battery manufacturer Akasol, Inc., closed two factories in Warren and Hazel Park, Michigan, and laid off 188 employees after relocating operations to South Carolina."

Khanna also reported on the permanent closure of facilities by International Paper. He stated, "Paper producer International Paper permanently shutdown three facilities in: Campti, Louisiana; Hazelton, Pennsylvania; and St. Louis, Missouri. Six hundred sixty people lost their jobs as a result."

Ro Khanna, currently 46, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1976 and resides in Fremont. He completed a BA at the University of Chicago in 1998 and earned his JD from Yale University in 2001.
