Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district, has recently commented on a series of layoffs in various manufacturing sectors across the United States through his social media posts. His tweets shed light on significant job losses resulting from company consolidations and acquisitions.

On March 22, 2025, Rep. Khanna tweeted about the layoffs at ORBIS Corporation in Menasha, Wisconsin. He stated that "Plastics manufacturer ORBIS Corporation in Menasha, Wisconsin fired 109 workers after downsizing to a facility in Texas."

The same day, Khanna reported on another closure affecting jobs in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He wrote that "In Jeffersonville, Indiana, mattress and bedding manufacturer Resident Home closed and fired 106 employees after being acquired by Ashley Furniture for $2 billion last March."

Additionally, Khanna highlighted job losses at Press Glass, Inc., a glass manufacturing company in Stoneville, North Carolina. In his tweet he noted that "Glass manufacturer Press Glass, Inc., in Stoneville, North Carolina closed leaving 68 people without jobs. The company consolidated operations to its recent $155.2 million expansion of its facility in Ridgeway, Virginia."
