Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 17th district since 2017, has highlighted several significant closures and layoffs in various industries across the United States through his recent tweets. These posts shed light on the economic challenges faced by workers due to corporate decisions and industry shifts.

On March 22, 2025, Rep. Khanna tweeted about the closure of Michigan Spring & Stamping in Muskegon, Michigan. He stated that "In Muskegon, Michigan, spring manufacturer Michigan Spring & Stamping of Muskegon closed and fired 116 people after being sold to German manufacturer Kern-Liebers."

In another tweet on the same day, Rep. Khanna reported on the shutdown of Columbus Manufacturing in Hayward, California. According to him, "Columbus Manufacturing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hormel Foods Corporation, in Hayward, California closed after 100 years in operation and laid off 125 employees."

Additionally, Rep. Khanna addressed layoffs in Shreveport, Louisiana. He noted that "In Shreveport, Louisiana, 107 workers were laid off when Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories downsized." This tweet was also posted on March 22.
