Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 17th district since 2017, has been vocal about recent layoffs in various manufacturing sectors through his social media platform. His tweets address concerns about offshoring and the need for investment in domestic manufacturing to retain jobs in the United States.

On January 26, 2025, Rep. Khanna highlighted the closure of Copeland Corp's Greenfield, Indiana location which resulted in 75 employees being laid off while a new facility was opened in Arteaga Coahuila, Mexico. He stated that "Copeland Corp, an HVAC manufacturer, closed its Greenfield, Indiana, location and laid off 75 employees the same week it opened a new location in Arteaga Coahuila, Mexico." emphasizing the importance of "offshoring penalties and investments in American companies" to prevent such occurrences.

In another tweet posted on January 26, 2025, he addressed layoffs at Orora Packaging Solutions in Brea, CA. The company laid off 60 workers following business consolidation and acquisition by Veritiv. Rep. Khanna urged that "Orora Packaging Solutions...laid off 60 workers after consolidating business and an acquisition by Veritiv" stressing that Congress should "invest in modern aluminum manufacturing."

Further addressing job losses on January 26, 2025, Rep. Khanna discussed layoffs at San Jose’s Xilinx Inc., where "San Jose’s Xilinx...permanently laid off 72 employees to make production 'more efficient.'" He emphasized that initiatives like the CHIPS Act could help recover semiconductor manufacturing jobs through increased public and private sector investment.
