Rep. Ro Khanna, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California's 17th District since 2017, shared his views on political financing and recent events through a series of tweets. Khanna, known for his stance against the influence of wealth in politics, emphasized the need for reform in campaign finance laws and addressed a natural disaster affecting Northern California.

On December 5, 2024, Rep. Ro Khanna highlighted the substantial financial expenditure during the election cycle by stating that "$2.7 billion was spent by more than 2,000 Super PACs during the 2024 election." He advocated for reforms to curb such spending by suggesting measures to "ban PAC & lobbyist money and stop members from becoming lobbyists."

Later that day, Khanna expressed concerns about the influence of wealth on political power structures in another tweet: "There is an unholy alliance between soulless wealth and power that has stripped Americans of freedom." He called for action to "overturn Citizens United" as part of returning democratic control to citizens.

In a separate message posted on December 5th, Rep. Khanna reacted to a seismic event off Northern California's coast: "I'm extremely thankful there were no injuries or damage after the 7.0 M earthquake this morning off the coast of northern CA." He advised residents to avoid coastal areas and remain updated via alerts from official sources due to an ongoing tsunami warning.
