Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district since 2017, recently shared updates on social media concerning recent layoffs across several industries.
On April 11, 2025, Khanna posted about layoffs at several companies. "Orthodontic tools manufacturer Ortho Organizers Inc. in Carlsbad, California, fired 69 workers."
In a subsequent post, he mentioned further layoffs at another company. On the same day, he wrote, "Tractor manufacturer John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa, continued mass layoffs by firing 38 more employees. The company has previously voiced concerns over the impact of Trump's tariffs on production."
Additionally, he reported on layoffs in the textile industry: "54 employees of textile manufacturer Richloom Weaving LLC lost their jobs in High Point, North Carolina, as the company adapts to decreased demand."
Khanna, 46, was born in Philadelphia and now resides in Fremont. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD from Yale University.
