Representative Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th District since 2017, shared a series of tweets reporting on layoffs within the manufacturing sector in the United States. Khanna, who holds a degree from the University of Chicago and a JD from Yale University, took to social media to provide updates on job losses in various regions.

On April 11, 2025, Khanna reported that "Pharmaceutical manufacturer Upsher-Smith in Maple Grove, Minnesota, laid off 150 workers." This announcement brings attention to employment changes within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

In another tweet on the same day, Khanna revealed that "Self-driving car manufacturer Cruise LLC laid off 735 workers from four California locations." This highlights workforce adjustments within the innovative sector of autonomous vehicle technology.

Khanna also noted that "The most workers were fired from tire producer Goodyear in Danville, Virginia, where 815 employees lost their jobs." The layoffs at Goodyear represent a significant number of job losses in the tire manufacturing industry.

Khanna, born in Philadelphia and currently residing in Fremont, continues to inform his constituents and the public about economic changes affecting key manufacturing sectors across the United States.
