Representative Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress for California's 17th district, took to social media on April 10, 2025, to address several legislative issues. Khanna, who has been in Congress since replacing Mike Honda in 2017, continues to focus on the influence of lobbyists and economic policies that impact American voters.
In a social media post on April 10, 2025, Khanna conveyed, "It’s time to return our democracy to Americans, not lobbyists with deep pockets." He announced the introduction of the Drain the Swamp Act, a measure aimed at prohibiting gifts from lobbyists and reinstating revolving door restrictions for future administrations.
Later that day, Khanna shared his concerns regarding former President Donald Trump's trade policies. He stated, "Trump's indecision and blanket tariffs hurt American businesses and consumers." Khanna announced his support for the Trade Review Act of 2025, legislation proposed by Representative Don Bacon, intended to restore legislative power over trade tariffs and require congressional approval for their enactment.
Khanna also invited constituents to a town hall meeting, scheduled for April 11, 2025, at the Orchard School District Event Center in San José, CA. In his post, he shared, "Tomorrow, Friday, April 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. PT at the Orchard School District (Event Center), 921 Fox Lane, San José, CA 95131, I’m hosting a town hall to discuss my latest work in Congress and in the district."
Khanna, born in Philadelphia in 1976, resides in Fremont, California. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago in 1998 and later earned his Juris Doctor from Yale University in 2001.
