Rep. Ro Khanna, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 17th district since 2017, has recently addressed issues related to manufacturing and job losses in the United States through a series of tweets dated February 15, 2025.

In one tweet, Rep. Khanna highlighted the closure of Keeko, LLC, a textiles manufacturer located in Henderson, North Carolina. He stated that "a lack of demand caused the closing of textiles manufacturer, Keeko, LLC, in Henderson, North Carolina," which resulted in "114 people losing their jobs." On the same day, he reported on layoffs at WKW North American, LLC in Pell City, Alabama. According to his tweet: "140 workers in Pell City, Alabama were laid off from aluminum manufacturer WKW North American, LLC." He emphasized the importance of investing in modern aluminum and steel manufacturing plants with legislative support such as his Steel Modernization Act to restore U.S. manufacturing dominance. Khanna advocated for policy changes to prevent job offshoring by tweeting: "Enacting offshoring penalties and increasing investments in American companies will prevent many domestic manufacturers from shipping jobs out of the U.S. in favor of cheaper production."
