PALO ALTO, C.A. – Representative Anna G. Eshoo (CA-16) issued the following statement after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted traditional approval to the Alzheimer’s treatment Leqembi.
“Today, the FDA granted traditional approval to Leqembi, the first drug shown to delay cognitive decline from Alzheimer’s, offering hope to the more than a million Americans who are in the early stages of the devastating disease of Alzheimer’s.
It is now essential for Medicare to provide the broad coverage it has promised for Alzheimer’s treatments that receive traditional approval. I will be watching closely to make sure that promise is delivered. Families and patients deserve access to the life-changing drug without unnecessary burdens on patients or doctors.”
