Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 17th district, recently expressed his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Born in Philadelphia and a graduate of both the University of Chicago and Yale University, Khanna has been active in advocating for various social programs since he assumed office in 2017.
On March 20, 2025, Khanna addressed public concerns regarding taxation by highlighting government achievements made possible through taxpayer funding. He stated: "I know it's in vogue to ask, 'What are we getting for our taxes?' We got Silicon Valley because NASA purchased semiconductors and DARPA built the internet. We get Medicaid, the largest insurance program in the world. Social Security. Medicare. I could go on. Come on, Dems, speak".
Later that day, Khanna emphasized healthcare as a fundamental right during a conversation with journalist Abby Phillip. He tweeted: ".@abbydphillip, basic healthcare is a right, not a privilege. We need to pass Medicare for All and make insurance affordable."
In another tweet posted on March 20th, Khanna addressed student debt relief by asserting its importance as an economic measure rather than a mere financial giveaway: "Student debt relief isn’t a handout. We can’t leave millions of borrowers stranded and crushed by debt while the cost of living rises." He urged action to uphold commitments made to cancel student loan debt for working and middle-class families.
