Every year on Veterans Day, the Stanford community gathers to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who serve and protect the nation. As part of this tradition, the Office of the President will place floral wreaths and a letter at Memorial Court and Memorial Auditorium. President Levin's letter acknowledges that members of the Stanford community have participated in every major American conflict since 1898, highlighting veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard members, Reservists, ROTC cadets, as well as their families.

"Through our mission of research and education, we strive to support veterans and service members at Stanford and beyond," writes President Levin. "Scholars across the university study geopolitics, international affairs, and military history, and they look for peaceful solutions to complex global challenges."

The wreaths will be laid by 11 a.m. on Monday to honor the signing of the armistice at Versailles in 1918. Memorial Auditorium will also be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., displaying plaques commemorating 406 service members affiliated with Stanford who died in service.

Stanford Law School will host a lunch event featuring U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey on Monday. Ramsey will discuss his journey from military service to law and leadership in California's Northern District office. He will also introduce a new Veterans Treatment Court focused on mental health needs for veterans.

Later that day, Palo Alto City and Stanford University will hold their third annual joint Veterans Day recognition event from 3 to 5 p.m. at MacArthur Park in Palo Alto. The event features speakers such as Palo Alto Mayor Greer-Stone; Martin Shell from Stanford University; Congresswoman Anna Eshoo delivering the keynote address; along with music by lecturer Nova Jiménez.

On Tuesday, a "Coffee Convo" hosted by Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability invites veterans and community members for coffee on Mitchell patio from 10 to 11 a.m.

Thursday sees SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s Military Employee Resource Group hosting its celebration with food and raffles at Menlo Park starting at 11:30 a.m., where RSVPs are requested.

Further details about these events can be found on the Office of Community Engagement’s website.
