No. 9 Virginia defeated No. 36 Stanford with a score of 4-0 at the Arrillaga Tennis Center on Sunday evening, concluding the Cardinal’s home matches for the season.
The result marked the end of Stanford’s home slate for 2026. Before play began, seniors Caroline Driscoll and Emma Sun were recognized during a pre-match ceremony held on court one.
Stanford now holds an overall record of 10-8 and is 6-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, with two regular season matches remaining against No. 23 California and No. 25 Southern Methodist University.
Virginia secured the doubles point after winning at both the top two doubles positions. In singles competition, Melodie Collard clinched victory for Virginia by defeating Sein Myoung on court five, while additional wins came from Kaitlyn Rolls on court three and Martina Genis Salas on court six.
Several singles matches were unfinished when play concluded, with Stanford leading or close to forcing deciding sets in those contests against ranked opponents. Monika Ekstrand was nearing a third set on the top court, Tianmei Wang led Isabelle Lacy on court four, and Alyssa Ahn was ahead of Annabelle Xu on court two when play stopped.
Looking ahead, Stanford will finish its regular season schedule with away matches at California and SMU.
