Stanford University has announced that three of its athletes have been named to the men’s track and field/cross country Academic All-America team by College Sports Communicators. The honorees include senior pole vaulter Garrett Brown and sophomore twin distance runners Leo and Lex Young.

Garrett Brown was placed on the second team, marking his second Academic All-America honor. Meanwhile, Leo and Lex Young received third-team recognition, their first such honors. The selections were based on a combination of academic performance and athletic achievements in cross country or track and field events.

Brown, hailing from Carlsbad, California, is studying aeronautics and astronautics. He is a two-time All-American who earned second-team Academic All-America honors for the second consecutive year. Brown also achieved All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) second-team status indoors and qualified for the NCAA West Prelims outdoors.

Leo Young is majoring in management science and engineering. He earned his first All-America honor by finishing 13th in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Additionally, he was named first-team All-ACC outdoors after placing third at the conference championships.

Lex Young studies sustainable architecture and engineering. He has been a two-time All-ACC selection, earning second-team honors both outdoors in the 10,000 meters and indoors in the 5,000 meters. Lex also qualified for the NCAA West Prelims at both distances outdoors.

Stanford’s men’s cross country and track and field program has produced 32 Academic All-America honors over time by 25 individuals.
