Stanford University’s Tabitha Yim was named the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Region Co-Head Coach of the Year on Apr. 8, marking her second consecutive season receiving this honor. Yim shares the award with UCLA head coach Janelle McDonald.
The recognition highlights Yim’s leadership in guiding Stanford’s women’s gymnastics team to a No. 7 national ranking at the end of the regular season, which is the highest finish during her tenure as head coach. The team maintained a top-10 ranking since Week 3, representing its longest stretch in that position since 2011.
Under Yim’s direction, Stanford achieved an undefeated record in conference play and secured its first Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title with a perfect 6-0 mark. The Cardinal also advanced to their second NCAA Championship berth in three seasons after competing at the Baton Rouge Regional Championships, making it their first multi-year appearance streak at nationals since qualifying five years straight from 2012 to 2016.
The season featured several notable accomplishments: four regular-season WCGA All-America honors, three individual ACC titles—Sienna Robinson and Temple Landry on beam and Ana Bărbosu on floor—alongside fourteen All-ACC honors distributed among seven student-athletes. Senior Anna Roberts recorded three perfect scores of 10.000, and Stanford posted its first road score above 198.000 points since 2004.
Looking ahead, Stanford will compete in Semifinal Session I of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday, April 16. The meet begins at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time and will be broadcast on ESPN2 with additional coverage available through ESPN+.
