Rep. Ro Khanna, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 17th district, has been vocal about the impact of factory closures on small towns across America. On February 22, 2025, he shared a series of tweets highlighting recent job losses due to corporate decisions prioritizing profits over people.

In one tweet, Khanna emphasized the plight of small towns affected by factory closures: "Small towns have been hollowed out by factory closures. Each week, hard-working Americans lose their jobs as companies choose profits over people." He underscored the importance of Congress hearing these stories and mentioned his efforts to track factory closures weekly.

On the same day, Khanna reported on layoffs at Stealth Monitoring in Addison, Texas: "Stealth Monitoring, a video supplies manufacturer in Addison, Texas, let 29 people go after an acquisition by Canadian company GardaWorld Security Corporation."

Additionally, he highlighted job losses at Tenneco, Inc., an auto-parts manufacturer in El Paso, Texas: "140 people in El Paso, Texas, lost their jobs at auto-parts manufacturer Tenneco, Inc. as a result of restructuring efforts following an acquisition by Italian manufacturer Brembo."
