Rep. Ro Khanna, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 17th district, has been vocal about economic issues affecting Americans. In recent tweets, he addresses concerns ranging from housing costs to job losses in Kentucky.

On February 20, 2025, Khanna highlighted the financial strain on American households due to housing costs. He stated that "42% of households spend more than 30% of their income on rent, mortgage payments, and other housing costs." Khanna criticized this situation by saying, "Americans are being ripped off." He proposed solutions such as his Stop Wall Street Landlords Act to combat the financialization of housing and reduce prices.

Two days later, on February 22, 2025, Khanna commented on significant job losses in Litchfield, Kentucky. He reported that "270 people lost their jobs in Litchfield, Kentucky," following the closure of Bel USA's cheese packaging plant due to infrastructure costs deemed "not financially feasible."

On the same day, Khanna also noted broader employment challenges when he tweeted that "This week 716 people lost their jobs when 2 factories closed and 3 announced mass layoffs."
