Stanford University is preparing for its annual Family Weekend, a two-day event inviting parents, siblings, and relatives of undergraduate students to experience campus life. Scheduled for Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, the event is expected to draw over 5,500 visitors.
President Levin expressed gratitude in a recent message: “We’re grateful to our Stanford families for everything you do to support your students and our university.”
The weekend is open to families of current undergraduates across all class years. Activities commence with check-in on Friday at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome discussion with President Levin and Provost Jenny Martinez from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Auditorium. A Family Weekend badge is required for entry, but overflow viewing will be available online and at McCaw Hall in the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center.
Families are invited to join their students for lunch in residence halls from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by residential receptions. The day includes open houses at community centers and special sessions on topics selected for the weekend. Self-guided tours of the campus and visits to art exhibits are also encouraged.
Saturday's schedule features academic discussions on various topics including AI innovations and sustainable urban futures. Families can attend the University Resource Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., where campus representatives will provide information about student resources.
The weekend concludes with the "Cardinal Student Showcase" from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring performances, food, games, and activities.
In addition to official events, families can enjoy other campus activities such as sports events and arts performances. This year marks the anniversary of Stanford Talisman’s founding; they will celebrate with a reunion concert on Saturday evening at Bing Concert Hall.
Participation in Family Weekend activities is free though some events may require tickets. Online registration is mandatory as there will be no on-site registration due to capacity limits.
Registered families can download an app providing access to schedules, maps, notifications, and more details about the weekend's events.
