Stanford University is set to host Wake Forest for the fifth home game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The game will commence at 12:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ACC Network. This matchup marks the first meeting between these Atlantic Coast Conference rivals since 2010, when Stanford defeated Wake Forest 68-24 in a non-conference game.
In their recent game against SMU, Stanford's defense was notable for forcing three turnovers and achieving three sacks. This performance marked the first instance this season that the team recorded such statistics in a single game, a feat last achieved during the 2019 season opener against Northwestern.
The current Stanford team has shown an aggressive approach on the field, attempting fourth-down conversions 24 times, second only to Air Force's 26 attempts. Their success rate places them tenth nationally in successful fourth-down conversions. This strategy has contributed to an average time of possession of 32 minutes and 21 seconds per game, ranking them third in the ACC and seventeenth nationally.
Young players have significantly contributed to Stanford's performance this season. Freshman running back Micah Ford leads with 261 rushing yards over six games. Underclassmen receivers Elic Ayomanor and Ismael Cisse have combined for 55 receptions, totaling 603 yards and five touchdowns.
Stanford's defensive strength under Coach Taylor is evident in their ability to restrict opponents' rushing yards during victories since the start of the 2023 season, allowing an average of just 36.4 rushing yards per game across five wins.
