New staff members are invited to participate in special sessions aimed at connecting with the community and meeting fellow employees. These sessions will include a welcome message from leaders, an overview of the organization's culture, history, core values, and available services. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet other new hires in breakout rooms.

Sessions are scheduled every Monday from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm (PST). If Monday is a holiday, the session will be held on Tuesday instead. Participants should check their inboxes for a welcome email containing Zoom information. If the email is not received 48 hours prior to the orientation session, they are advised to contact "welcome-to-stanford@stanford.edu."

Upcoming sessions include dates in May through August 2024. For those requiring disability-related accommodations such as sign language interpretation or live captioning, requests should be made one week prior to the event by emailing disability.access@stanford.edu.

All new hires must accept or decline benefits offerings; failure to make selections will result in automatic enrollment in benefits with associated costs. More details about benefits can be found on Cardinal at Work. Specific health and wellness inquiries can be directed to the University HR Service Team at 650-736-2985.

Enrollment must occur within 31 days of the start date. Benefits sessions are held every Tuesday at 11:00 am (PST). New hires should look out for an email from "welcome-to-stanford@stanford.edu" for Zoom information.

New staff members interested in exploring Stanford's historic Palo Alto campus can sign up for one-hour tours starting at 2 pm on several dates throughout June and July 2024.

Social events include Jeopardy sessions scheduled for July and August, where new hires can win prizes and meet colleagues.

Staff groups and communities of practice offer opportunities for professional development and social engagement. Healthy Living classes and wellness events are available through BeWell, with full event details accessible on their website.

BeWell encourages benefits-eligible employees to commit to their health during the program year from Jan. 4 - Nov. 30, 2024. Detailed information about health benefits is available online along with a downloadable Benefits Summary for an overview of options.

For retirement savings plans, new hires can attend monthly workshops offering live overviews and Q&A sessions about saving options and matching programs once eligible.
