PALO ALTO, C.A. — On Saturday, May 20th, U.S. Rep. Anna G. Eshoo (CA-16) hosted the final presentations of the 2023 Student Advisory Board of the 16th Congressional District. This year a record number of 178 high school students from throughout the 16th Congressional District served on the Board. They simulated the House Energy and Commerce Committee and crafted policy proposals to address specific challenges facing Congress and the nation. The students worked since January, meeting every two weeks to study a policy area of their choice, selected by each group of students from the issues within the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Rep. Eshoo founded the Board in 1993 to give young people a voice in governing. Constituents are invited to watch the proceedings HERE.

Background: The 16th Congressional District Student Advisory Board is made up of high school students, living in or attending school in California’s 16th Congressional District, and are interested in public policy and learning about the legislative process. Students meet twice a month during the school year to study a policy area of their choice and make recommendations to Congresswoman Eshoo, who in turn, has introduced many of the Board’s policy recommendations in the House of Representatives.
