The Stanford Cardinal men’s, women’s, and beach volleyball teams have been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as recipients of the AVCA Team Academic Award. This recognition makes Stanford the only Division I institution to have all its volleyball programs receive this academic honor.
The women’s indoor team also achieved a spot on the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, placing them in the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally within their division. For the 2024-25 academic year, they recorded a team GPA of 3.721, with 13 out of 15 student-athletes achieving a GPA of 3.30 or higher.
Similarly, the beach volleyball team reported a GPA of 3.705, with 22 out of its 24 student-athletes earning at least a 3.30 GPA. The men’s team registered a GPA of 3.574, with 14 out of its 16 members reaching or exceeding a GPA of 3.30.
Both the beach and women’s teams are celebrating their eleventh consecutive season receiving this honor. The women’s team has now been recognized for the nineteenth time overall and is one among thirteen ACC schools acknowledged this year. The beach squad is one of four MPSF schools to earn this award.
For the men’s team, this marks their sixth consecutive season receiving the AVCA Team Academic Award and their fourteenth time overall in program history. They are one among three MPSF squads recognized for the award in the current academic year and one among fourteen Division I teams honored.
This award was established during the 1992-93 academic year to commend collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain at least a cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) of either a minimum of 3.30 on a scale up to four or at least a cumulative GPA equivalent on different scales.
