Stanford University junior Ava Brosnan will compete for Team Ireland in the Women’s Sixes Lacrosse Tournament at the World Games in Changdu, China this weekend. The event marks Team Ireland’s debut at the tournament, which spans five days.
Brosnan previously played with the Irish U21 Women’s National Team during the 2023 U21 European Championship, where she led her team in goals with 21 and was second in total points with 25. She was also a member of the squad that participated in the 2024 European Championship, helping Ireland qualify for the 2026 World Lacrosse Championships set to take place in Tokyo, Japan.
During her time at Stanford, Brosnan has appeared in four games. She scored her first collegiate goal in a match against UC Davis that ended 21-8 in favor of Stanford in 2024. Brosnan did not play during the 2025 season.
Team Ireland is scheduled to open pool play against the United States at 9 a.m. local time on Thursday, August 7 (6 p.m. PST Wednesday, August 6). The team will then face Czechia and Australia. All matches are available via live stream on WL TV.
