No. 7 Stanford is set to begin its 2025 women’s soccer season on Thursday with a match against San Francisco. The two teams have a long history, having played 26 times. Stanford has won each of those matches and holds an 86-9 advantage in goals scored.

The Cardinal recorded a 1-0 win over San Francisco last year. In total, Stanford has shut out the Dons in 19 of their meetings, including the last five games. The last time San Francisco scored more than one goal against Stanford was in a 3-2 loss on October 19, 1997.

Under head coach Paul Ratcliffe, Stanford is undefeated against San Francisco with an 11-0-0 record and a combined score of 48-3 across those contests. San Francisco is also one of only two teams that have played at least twelve matches against Stanford without recording a win; Cal Poly is the other team, with Stanford holding a 12-0 record in that series.

“We are excited to open our season and look forward to continuing our tradition of strong performances,” said Paul Ratcliffe, head coach of the Cardinal.

Stanford will host upcoming promotions as part of its home schedule this season.
