Stanford women’s soccer opened its 2025 season with a 7-0 victory over San Francisco at Cagan Stadium on Thursday night. Senior Jasmine Aikey and freshman Brooke Holden each scored twice, contributing to the team’s dominant performance.
Aikey scored her first goal in the 26th minute and added another in the 56th before being substituted by Holden in the 60th minute. Holden, playing her first collegiate game, scored both of her goals late in the match.
The scoring began early when Andrea Kitahata sent a cross that was headed into the net by Allie Montoya for her ninth career goal. Elise Evans assisted on two of Stanford’s early goals, setting up Aikey for a left-footed shot and then finding freshman Y-Lan Nguyen, who scored her first career goal.
After halftime, Shae Harvey provided an assist for Aikey’s second goal. Jaden Thomas also returned from injury to score with help from Logan Smith.
Freshmen Ava Harrison and Milly Bray contributed to Holden’s two goals late in the match. Harrison forced a turnover that led to Holden’s first goal, while Bray set up the final goal with a cross into the box.
Stanford split time between two goalkeepers: freshman Caroline Birkel started and played the first half, while sophomore Kaiya Jota finished out the match. Neither goalkeeper faced a shot on target as Stanford held a 30-4 advantage in shots over San Francisco.
San Francisco goalkeeper Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth made eight saves during the match.
Stanford will next face No. 16 Santa Clara at home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
“We are pleased with how we started our season tonight,” said head coach Paul Ratcliffe. “The team showed good energy and worked well together.”
