Stanford University’s women’s water polo team secured a decisive 23-11 victory over Long Beach State at the Brigitte Donner Daws Memorial Invitational in Berkeley, California. The win was highlighted by Jenna Flynn, who matched her career high with six goals on eight attempts. Juliette Dhalluin contributed three goals and five assists as Stanford saw 12 different players score during the match.
The game began with Long Beach State taking an early 3-1 lead in the first quarter. Flynn scored twice to tie the match, and Ella Woodhead added a power play goal just before the buzzer, giving Stanford a narrow 6-5 advantage at the end of the period. Stanford capitalized on its power play opportunities, converting five out of seven chances.
Stanford took control in the second quarter with five unanswered goals, pushing their lead to 11-5 with just over four minutes left in the half. At halftime, Stanford led 13-7.
Flynn opened scoring in the third quarter by netting her sixth goal of the day. Claire Minton’s goal later helped Stanford surpass the 20-goal mark for a second consecutive game.
Goalkeepers Christine Carpenter and Jackie King shared duties, with Carpenter making three saves through three quarters and King adding five stops in the fourth quarter.

Stanford is scheduled to play two exhibition matches during this tournament: against UCLA today and California on Sunday. The team’s next official contest is set for February 7 at UC Davis.
