The Stanford Cardinal women’s track and field team won their third consecutive Big Meet title against California on April 11, with a score of 101-57 at Cobb Track & Angell Field. The men’s competition saw the Golden Bears claim victory, defeating Stanford by a score of 112-45.

The annual rivalry event, now in its 131st edition, holds significance for both programs as a showcase of athletic talent and school pride. This year’s meet was notable for the Cardinal women’s largest margin of victory since the 2018 contest held in Berkeley.

Stanford’s women secured twelve event wins during the competition. In the Women’s 4×100 meter relay, Alaysia Oakes, Alyssa Jones, Samantha Ennin, and Tess Stapleton matched the meet record with a time of 44.23 seconds—the eighth-fastest in program history. Oakes also set an outdoor personal best in the triple jump at 13.02 meters to improve her ranking among Stanford’s all-time top performers.

Additional victories came from Jones in high jump (1.78m), Ennin in long jump (6.11m), Stapleton in the individual 200 meters (23.68), Mena Scatchard with wins in both the 3,000 meters (9:28.77) and leading a one-two finish in the 800 meters (2:04.14). Juliette Whittaker won both the women’s 400 meters (53.99) and shared first place with Riley Stewart in the women’s 1500-meter run at an identical time of 4:20.43.

Emma Sralla claimed her second discus title within two weeks with a throw of 51.92 meters; Diane Richard led Stanford’s sweep of podium places in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of one minute flat; Ryce Reynolds won as Stanford’s only entrant on the men’s side for that event.

On Senior Day for Stanford track and field, fifteen graduating student-athletes were honored during festivities at Cobb Track & Angell Field.

Looking ahead, Stanford will continue its outdoor season next weekend by splitting squads between two competitions: Mt Sac Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16 to April 18.
