Stanford University’s women’s volleyball team recorded a season-high 18.0 blocks during their home opener against Utah State, resulting in a three-set sweep (25-13, 25-19, 25-16) at Maples Pavilion on Friday.
The Cardinal’s blocking performance was the best since 2021. The team improved its record to 5-2 and finished the match with a .287 hitting percentage while limiting Utah State to just .024.
Jordyn Harvey led Stanford with her second double-double of the season, posting 12 kills on .364 hitting and setting a personal best with 10 blocks—marking the highest block total by any Cardinal player this year.
Setter Logan Parks contributed 31 assists along with four digs and one kill. Parks also matched her career-high by adding five blocks. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler led all players with nine digs and added an ace and an assist.
The Cardinal achieved a perfect side-out rate in the first set and maintained an overall rate of 82 percent for the match.
Senior outside hitter Elia Rubin notched 10 kills on a season-best .474 attack percentage, three digs, and three kills. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered six kills on ten attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, making only one error. Andrew also tied her career-high by recording eight blocks.
Freshman Erika Sayer contributed six kills alongside a career-best nine blocks. Outside hitter Ipar Kurt posted five aces—a personal high—alongside four kills and six digs.
For Utah State, Mara Stiglic tallied ten kills and two blocks while setter Kaylie Kofe provided 23 assists, six digs, and two blocks.
Stanford will next face UC Davis on Sunday at Maples Pavilion at 3 p.m.
