Stanford women’s gymnastics defeats Clemson in home opener

Stanford University’s women’s gymnastics team secured a home victory against Clemson on Sunday, marking its first competition at Maples Pavilion for the 2026 season. The No. 9 ranked Cardinal defeated No. 16 Clemson with a final score of 197.075-196.300, improving their conference record to 2-0.

Senior Anna Roberts and freshman Ana Bărbosu both achieved an all-around score of 39.450, tying for the event’s top honor. Roberts also won the vault title, while Bărbosu set new personal bests in vault (9.850), floor (9.925), and the all-around category.

Junior Sienna Robinson claimed the bars title with a score of 9.925, making it her third consecutive meet winning at least one event.

The Cardinal opened on vault, matching their season-best team total of 49.000 in front of their home crowd. Roberts led with a season-high score of 9.900, and Bărbosu contributed her career-best performance in her first official vault at Maples Pavilion.

After the initial rotation, Clemson held a narrow lead over Stanford by a margin of .150 points.

In the bars rotation, Stanford posted a team total of 49.350, highlighted by Robinson’s career-best and redshirt freshman Levi Jung-Ruivivar’s new high mark of 9.900.

At the halfway point, Stanford moved ahead with a .475-point advantage over Clemson.

On beam, Stanford earned a team score of 49.325 during the third rotation; junior Temple Landry scored highest in this segment with a 9.900.

Heading into the final rotation on floor exercise, Stanford extended its lead to half a point.

The meet concluded with Stanford’s strongest event performance: they scored 49.400 on floor for the second week in succession above that mark. Bărbosu again set another personal best with her leading routine.

Stanford will next host No. 20 California on Friday, January 30 at Maples Pavilion in another conference matchup scheduled for broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

“Roberts and Bărbosu led the Cardinal to a 2-0 start in conference action, tying for the all-around crown with matching totals of 39.450,” according to Stanford Athletics.
