Stanford secured the ACC Championship title after a penalty shootout victory over Notre Dame in Cary, North Carolina. The match ended 2-2 after regulation and overtime, with Stanford prevailing 5-4 on penalties.

Charlotte Kohler scored the decisive penalty for Stanford following a missed attempt by Notre Dame in the sixth round of the shootout. Andrea Kitahata, Shae Harvey, Y-Lan Nguyen, and Mia Bhuta also converted their penalties for Stanford. Goalkeeper Caroline Birkel contributed by saving one penalty and correctly reading another that struck the post.

Stanford took an early lead with Allie Montoya scoring in the 29th minute after receiving a pass from Jasmine Aikey. Aikey extended the lead early in the second half with her 15th goal of the season. Notre Dame responded with goals from Izzy Engle in the 69th minute and Charlie Codd in the 75th minute to tie the match.

During overtime, both teams created chances but were unable to break the deadlock. In penalties, both teams converted their first three attempts before Birkel made a key save on Notre Dame’s fourth shot. After Kasica saved Stanford’s fifth kick, Kohler clinched victory following Codd’s miss off the post.

Four Stanford players—Jasmine Aikey (named Tournament MVP), Charlotte Kohler, Andrea Kitahata, and Elise Evans—were selected for the 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Soccer All-Tournament Team alongside players from Notre Dame, Virginia, and Duke.

Stanford now awaits its placement in the NCAA Tournament field, which will be announced Monday at 1 p.m.
