Stanford University’s men’s and women’s tennis teams will open the new Arrillaga Tennis Center with a doubleheader on April 3, according to an announcement made on April 2. The women’s team is set to play Virginia Tech at 1:30 p.m., followed by the men’s match against No. 3 Wake Forest at 5:30 p.m. A dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting for the facility will take place between the two matches, and admission is free.
The opening of the Arrillaga Tennis Center marks a significant development for Stanford’s tennis programs, providing upgraded facilities for athletes and spectators alike.
The new center features twelve outdoor courts with seating for up to 1,005 people and a total spectator capacity of 1,500. The facility includes more than 12,410 square feet of team space such as locker rooms, lounges for both programs, athletic training and recovery rooms, a “Home of Champions” area highlighting Stanford tennis achievements, a visitor’s locker room, and coaching suites. The overall complex also encompasses covered courts across the street known as Arrillaga Tennis Center – Taube Pavilion.
After Friday’s events, both teams will continue their weekend competitions at home. The No. 36 ranked women’s team will host No. 9 Virginia on Sunday at 3 p.m., which will include a Senior Day ceremony honoring Caroline Driscoll and Emma Sun after their match. The No. 25 men’s team hosts No. 23 NC State at noon Sunday with recognition planned for seniors Samir Banerjee and Alex Chang.
The launch of this facility represents an investment in collegiate athletics infrastructure that may benefit future generations of student-athletes.
