Stanford University will hold its Senior Day during the penultimate home match of the women’s lacrosse season against Louisville on April 4. The game, set for a 1 p.m. start at Cagan Stadium, follows two close road losses for Stanford against Boston College and Villanova.
The event is significant as it honors senior players while also serving as one of the last opportunities for fans to see the team compete at home this season. Stanford enters the matchup ranked No. 10/9 nationally.
Last week, Stanford fell to Boston College despite overcoming an early deficit with a strong second-quarter performance before ultimately losing 13-11. Against Villanova, Stanford battled through challenging conditions and was tied at halftime but eventually lost by one goal, finishing with a score of 9-8.
Stanford’s offense has seen contributions from multiple players throughout the season. In recent games, nine different athletes scored against Boston College and seven did so against Villanova. Annabel Frist led in draw controls over both games, while Ella Morton recorded a total of 13 saves on the road trip.
Aliya Polisky leads Stanford in points (46) and goals (29), closely followed by Mallory Hasselbeck with 41 points and a team-best 21 assists this season. Ava Arceri is second in goals with 24, while nine Cardinal players have reached double-digit goals this year.
Defensively, Rylee Bouvier and Kate Bellissimo have both earned conference honors; Bellissimo leads in caused turnovers (24) and ground balls (32). Lucy Pearson has maintained an undefeated record as goalkeeper this season with a national top-three goals-against average of 7.00 across her appearances.
