Stanford University announced on Mar. 31 that its No. 24 ranked softball team will host the Cardinal Classic II this weekend at Stanford Softball Stadium, featuring games against No. 21 Washington and St. Mary’s.
The tournament is scheduled over three days, with games set for Thursday and Friday at 5:00 p.m., and two games on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The announcement comes as the Stanford team returns from an extended seven-game road trip during spring break, where they posted a record of five wins and two losses while playing in North Carolina, East Carolina, and Duke.
Several players have contributed to the team’s recent success. Taryn Kern has been leading off strongly this season, providing key offensive performances for Stanford. Emily Jones is currently on a ten-game hitting streak over her last eleven appearances; she missed one game due to injury but has otherwise been a consistent presence in the lineup.
Seniors Kern and Kyra Chan have both increased their offensive output in their final seasons with the program, helping drive run production for the Cardinal offense. The trio of Kern, Jones, and Chan continues to anchor the top of Stanford’s batting order as they prepare for this home tournament.
