Stanford will play against San Jose State in the first round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship on Friday, April 7, in Berkeley, California.
The matchup is significant as Stanford seeks its ninth MPSF title and fourth championship in the past five seasons. The Cardinal previously won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, adding another win in 2025. The team has also secured both MPSF and NCAA titles during four different seasons: 2014, 2022, 2023, and most recently in 2025.
Recent performances have highlighted Stanford’s strong form. Jenna Flynn scored a hat trick to help secure an 8-7 victory over California on April 4. After trailing early, Stanford scored four consecutive goals to take control of the game. Christine Carpenter made key saves late to preserve the win. Maggie Hawkins and Jackie King were honored during a Senior Day ceremony following that match.
Stanford’s season record stands at 11-1 overall with a conference record of 5-1. The team has twice defeated UCLA this year with notable defensive efforts in both games. In a March road win over UCLA, Juliette Dhalluin led with four goals while Flynn contributed three goals including the game-winner late in the match. Another victory came at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational final where Flynn again had a hat trick.
Offensively, Flynn (40 goals) and Dhalluin (34 goals) have been leaders for Stanford this season, combining for multiple Player of the Week honors. The team has shown depth by having at least ten different players score in several games this year.
International experience is another strength for Stanford; Flynn represented Team USA at the Paris Olympics while Dhalluin played for France and Serena Browne competed for Canada. Sienna Green joined from UCLA after winning Olympic silver with Australia.
This summer saw Brenda Villa return as associate head coach—she is recognized as one of women’s water polo’s most decorated athletes and helped lead Stanford to its first NCAA title as a player.
