Stanford lost to No. 21 Washington by a score of 6-3 on Apr. 2 at Stanford Softball Stadium, bringing the Cardinal’s season record to 20-11. Five of Stanford’s six hits went for extra bases, including triples from Kyra Chan and River Mahler.

The game began with Washington scoring two runs in the first inning, one of which was unearned due to an obstruction call at third base. Stanford responded quickly when Chan hit a two-out triple and scored on an error, cutting the lead in half. In the second inning, Addyson Sheppard tied the game with her sixth home run of the season.

Washington regained momentum in the third inning with two more runs, including another unearned run from an obstruction call at home plate. The Cardinal narrowed the gap again in the fourth when Ava Gall doubled to bring Mahler home, making it a one-run game.

A two-run homer by Washington in the fifth inning secured their victory with a final score of 6-3. Despite strong hitting efforts—five out of six hits going for extra bases—Stanford could not overcome Washington’s lead.

Stanford will play again tomorrow against Saint Mary’s at Stanford Softball Stadium at 5:00 p.m., with tickets available online and streaming coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.
