Stanford sailing secured its fourth Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference (PCCSC) title of the 2025-26 season on April 6, going undefeated at the PCCSC Open Team Race Championship. The team finished with a perfect 14-0 record at the event, marking one of two victories for Stanford over the weekend.
The latest win highlights Stanford’s continued success in collegiate sailing competitions this year. Achieving multiple conference titles demonstrates both depth and consistency within the program.
Head coach Chris Klevan said, “This event is a must win, and the competition in conference is strong presently. It’s amazing we have the depth to go undefeated at a conference championship while the starters are getting much needed reps at the nationals venue.” The roster for this championship included Dylan Sih, Shay Wood, Ashtyn Tierney, Alexandra Jones, Lucas Woodworth, Amiya Stroumza, Freddie Parkin, Thomas Whidden and Caroline Geiger.
In addition to their victory in California, another group from Stanford competed in Louisiana at the Tulane Women’s Team Race. That squad—Alice Schmid, Avery Baldwin, Ellie Harned, Kate Myles, Samara Walshe and Kit Harned—also went undefeated with a 15-0 record. Assistant coach Shawn Harvey said about their performance: “Any time spent at the Nationals venue is time well spent. Our team adjusted to the uniquely choppy waters of Lake Pontchartrain and looked speedy.”
The results placed Stanford well ahead of second-place Charleston in that event; Charleston finished with a 7-8 record among four teams competing.
Looking ahead, Stanford will travel to Washington next weekend for two more PCCSC championship events: women’s team race and fleet race championships. The program will also send sailors to compete in the Thompson Trophy Open Team Race.
