Senior Samir Banerjee from Stanford has been selected to represent Team USA at the Master’U BNP Paribas Championship in Reims, France. The tournament, which is recognized as “The World Event of University Tennis,” will take place from December 5-7 and will feature teams from eight countries: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, and the United States. Each team includes players who are currently competing within a university system.

Team USA’s roster also features Valerie Glozman (Stanford), Reese Brantmeier (North Carolina), Aidan Kim (Ohio State), Nicolas Kotzen (Columbia), and Luciana Perry (Ohio State). The United States enters the competition as defending champions with five consecutive titles.

Banerjee contributed to Stanford’s strong season last year, where the team achieved a 26-6 overall record—their highest win total since 2003—and reached several milestones including their fourth straight NCAA Super Regional appearance. It was also the program’s first time in the NCAA quarterfinals since 2012 and semifinals since 2003. Additionally, Stanford advanced to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships semifinals for the first time since 2018 and won the ACC Championship in its debut season.

During his junior year, Banerjee finished ranked No. 11 nationally in singles and No. 40 in doubles. He posted a singles record of 13-8 and a doubles record of 19-11 with a total of 15 ranked wins. His performance earned him ITA All-American honors as well as second team CSC Academic All-American recognition and selection to the All-ACC first team.

The tournament format includes two women’s singles matches, two men’s singles matches, one women’s doubles match, one men’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match per tie. The nation that secures four out of seven matches advances in the competition.
