Meja Örtengren, a sophomore on the Stanford women’s golf team, won her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title at the Hills Open in Gothenburg, Sweden. Örtengren finished under par in all three rounds of the tournament. After ending Saturday tied for the lead at 5-under, she secured victory with a final round score of 1-under 70 on Sunday.
Örtengren outperformed several top international golfers, including Lisa Pettersson and Leonie Harm, whom she beat by two shots. She also finished ahead of former Annika Award winner Ingrid Lindblad. With this win, Örtengren becomes only the third amateur to claim a LET title since 2022, joining Lottie Woad and Jana Melichova.
“She finished below par in all three rounds. She finished Saturday’s round tied for the lead at 5-under and won the tournament outright after shooting a 1-under 70 in the final round on Sunday afternoon.”
Örtengren had an outstanding freshman season at Stanford. She was named both ACC and WGCA Freshman of the Year and recorded a scoring average of 70.11—the fourth best in program history. In her first year, she played par or better in 24 out of 28 rounds and captured her initial collegiate victory at the San Diego State Classic.
This summer has been notable for Stanford women’s golf players. Paula Martín Sampedro won The Women’s Amateur as well as the European Ladies’ Amateur titles, while Megha Ganne took home victory at the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur.
Örtengren also placed sixth in this year’s European Ladies Amateur Championship and achieved third place at the PGA of Sweden Championship on the LET Access Series.
