Stanford University announced on Apr. 7 that four of its softball pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter against UC Davis, resulting in a 6-0 victory for the Cardinal. The achievement marks the program’s 37th no-hitter and is its first seven-inning no-no since March of last year.

The game saw Zoe Prystajko, Anna Brewer, Ava Bulanti, and Alyssa Houston take turns on the mound to keep UC Davis from recording any hits. Prystajko started and allowed two walks over three innings before Brewer took over in the fourth inning. Brewer retired the side after hitting a batter and was credited with the win.

Stanford began scoring in the third inning with an RBI single by Kyra Chan followed by a sacrifice fly from River Mahler. The team extended its lead in the fifth inning with four runs, capitalizing on two hits and three errors by UC Davis. Sophia Jin led off that inning with a bunt single and later scored along with Taryn Kern, while Mahler contributed both offensively at shortstop and defensively with seven assists and two putouts.

Bulanti pitched a perfect sixth inning using just eleven pitches, continuing her streak of hitless innings across recent games. Houston closed out the seventh inning without allowing any baserunners, striking out two batters including the final out of the game.

This game represents Stanford’s first-ever seven-inning combined no-hitter; their only previous combined effort was a five-inning performance by Madi Schreyer and Nyree White in 2014. In their last two matchups against Stanford, UC Davis has failed to record a hit across 36 at-bats.

Looking ahead, Stanford will host No. 5 Florida State for a three-game series starting Friday at home. The opening game will be broadcast on ESPN2 while Saturday’s matchup will air on ESPN.
