Stanford women’s volleyball began its 2025 season with a win over Florida at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in Lincoln, Nebraska. The No. 6 ranked Cardinal defeated No. 16 Florida in four sets: 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-22.
Senior Elia Rubin led Stanford with a double-double, recording 14 kills on .343 hitting and a match-high 17 digs. She also contributed two blocks and two assists. Opposite Jordyn Harvey added 11 kills and four blocks, including two solo.
Stanford used a 6-2 system for the first time since 2016. Sophomore Taylor Yu had 28 assists, six digs, and an ace. Freshman Logan Parks made her collegiate debut by splitting time as setter and opposite; she finished with 23 assists, nine kills, seven digs, and four blocks.
Freshmen Spencer Etzler (libero) and Erika Sayer (middle blocker) also played their first matches for Stanford. Etzler tallied 15 digs, two aces, and three assists while Sayer recorded seven kills and five blocks.
Sophomore Lizzy Andrew hit .375 with nine kills and led the team with six blocks. Redshirt sophomore Julia Blyashov started at outside hitter with five kills, four digs, and an ace before being replaced by Ipar Kurt in the third set; Kurt added three kills on a .429 attack percentage.
Florida was led by Jordyn Byrd’s match-high of 17 kills on .368 hitting along with two blocks. Jaela Auguste and Milica Vidacic each contributed ten kills for Florida.
With this result, Stanford improved its all-time record against Florida to 11-6.
The Cardinal will next face No.1 Nebraska on Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena; the match is scheduled for broadcast on ESPN at 12:30 p.m. PT.
