Stanford men’s soccer ranked fifth in ACC preseason poll as Bohane makes watch list

Stanford has been ranked tied for fifth in the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men’s soccer preseason coaches poll, according to an announcement from the conference office. The poll, which reflects the opinions of the league’s 15 head coaches, was released on Wednesday morning.

Senior midfielder Zach Bohane was also named to the ACC Preseason Watch List. Each program is represented by one student-athlete on this list, and selections were made by the conference’s head coaches.

Bohane started 16 of his 17 matches last season, leading Stanford in goals (5), points (13), shots (49), shots on goal (21), and game-winning goals (3). He received First Team All-ACC honors and was selected for the United Soccer Coaches Second Team. Over his three seasons at Stanford, Bohane has accumulated 42 career points with 13 goals and 16 assists, making him second among active players in career points for the Cardinal.

“A native of Monte Sereno, Calif., Bohane has been one of Stanford’s most prolific scoring threats throughout his career, sitting second among active players in career points (42) with 13 goals and 16 assists during his three seasons on The Farm.”

Stanford will finish its preseason schedule with a match against Cal Poly this Saturday at 7 p.m. The regular season begins August 21 when Sacramento State visits Cagan Stadium.

In addition to their ACC ranking, Stanford was placed seventh nationally in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll.

The full ACC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll lists Clemson first with four first-place votes and a total of 185 points. Wake Forest follows with five first-place votes and Pitt is third with four. Duke holds fourth place while both Stanford and SMU are tied for fifth at 136 points each.

The ACC Preseason Watch List includes players from all member programs:
