Stanford University’s men’s gymnastics team has been recognized as Team Academic National Champions by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA), according to an announcement released Tuesday. The Cardinal achieved a nation-leading 3.7064 team grade point average, placing them at the top of collegiate men’s gymnastics academic programs.
In addition to the team honor, 18 Stanford gymnasts received individual Academic All-America recognition. Fifteen athletes were named to the first team for maintaining a GPA of 3.50 or higher. These honorees are Mark Berlaga, Jeremy Bischoff, Kai Uemura, Cooper Kim, Marcus Kushner, David Shamah, Zach Green, Arun Chhetri, Xander Hong, Kaien J-Spencer, Ian Lasic-Ellis, Wade Nelson, Luke McFarland, Marcus Pietarinen, and Brandon Nguyen.
Taylor Burkhart, Asher Hong, and Colt Walker earned second team All-America honors for GPAs between 3.499 and 3.2.
“Stanford boasts the best GPA in the nation with a 3.706,” Logan Sass stated in the announcement.
The CGA’s annual awards highlight academic performance among men’s collegiate gymnastics teams across the country.
