Stanford University’s men’s basketball team is set to host Duke University, currently ranked No. 6 in the nation, at Maples Pavilion on Saturday, January 17. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network and is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Stanford enters the matchup with a 14-4 record, its best start since the 2019-20 season. The team has recorded four quadrant one NET victories and notable wins against ranked Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponents, including North Carolina, Louisville, and Virginia Tech.
Freshman Ebuka Okorie has emerged as a standout player for Stanford, ranking fifth nationally in scoring with an average of 22.9 points per game. He is also second among freshmen nationwide in this category. Okorie shares this distinction with Duke’s Cameron Boozer and BYU’s AJ Dybantsa as freshmen averaging over 20 points per game. Chisom Okpara contributes an average of 13.9 points per game, placing him among the top scorers in the ACC.
Stanford recently secured a victory over No. 14/15 North Carolina, winning 95-90 behind Okorie’s career-high 36 points. Ryan Agarwal added a career-best 20 points and Jeremy Dent-Smith contributed a season-high 20 points. The team made 16 three-pointers during the game, tying for the second most in program history.
The Cardinal has won four consecutive games against ranked opponents at home and will face its third straight ranked opponent with Duke’s visit. Earlier this season, Stanford claimed the Acrisure Invitational title in Palm Desert after Benny Gealer’s buzzer-beater secured a win over the Gophers.
Former Stanford player Maxime Raynaud graduated in 2025 and was drafted by the Sacramento Kings after a strong collegiate season. Other recent alumni such as Brook Lopez, Spencer Jones, and Ziaire Williams have also achieved notable performances in the NBA since December.
Ahead of Saturday’s contest against Duke, fans are invited to attend a pregame block party at Maples Pavilion featuring food trucks, music, beverages, and an in-venue shirt giveaway while supplies last.
