The Stanford men’s rowing team won all six of its races at the California Classic on April 4, defeating No. 21 Oregon State and No. 15 Wisconsin in matchups held at the Belmont Channel/Redwood Shores Lagoon.
The event was significant for Stanford as it demonstrated strong performances across all varsity eight boats, strengthening their season records and competitive standing.
In the morning session against Oregon State, Stanford’s first varsity eight (1V8) finished with a time of 5:41.1, ahead by 19 seconds. The second varsity eight (2V8) won by a margin of 26 seconds, while the third varsity eight (3V8) secured victory by 17 seconds. The afternoon session saw Stanford face Wisconsin, where each boat also claimed wins with a consistent margin of twelve seconds in each race.
The regatta featured additional teams including Cal, Santa Clara, Temple and UC San Diego. While Stanford completed its participation on Saturday, the competition continued into Sunday morning.
With these results, both the Cardinal’s first and second varsity eights now hold season records of five wins and two losses; the third varsity is three-and-two. Next on their schedule are matchups against Princeton, Yale, Penn and Columbia set for April 11 in Princeton.
