Stanford University’s men’s gymnastics team will compete for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) championship on April 3-4 at Haas Pavilion, the university announced on Apr. 2.
The event is significant as Stanford seeks its fourth MPSF title in five seasons and aims to reclaim the conference crown. The Cardinal, currently ranked No. 3 nationally, will face top-ranked Oklahoma, No. 8 California, and No. 13 Air Force.
Competition begins at 4 p.m. Pacific Time and will be streamed live on Overnght, a subscription-based platform. Live scoring is available through Virti.us and updates can be followed on Twitter/X via @StanfordMGym.
Stanford enters the championships aiming for its eleventh conference title overall and eighth under the MPSF banner. Last season saw individual successes from Taylor Burkhart and Asher Hong, with six gymnasts earning all-conference honors and Burkhart named Gymnast of the Year as Stanford finished second in the conference.
This year, Asher Hong earned his third Gymnast of the Year award while Nick Kuebler was named Specialist of the Year—the first such honor in program history for a Cardinal gymnast. The team closed out their regular season with a victory over California and Air Force; Jun Iwai won titles on floor and high bar while other gymnasts contributed event wins across multiple apparatuses.
Hong was also named one of six finalists for the Nissen-Emery award by the Collegiate Gymnastics Association—an honor recognizing outstanding senior collegiate gymnasts—with several past Stanford athletes having received this accolade under head coach Thom Glielmi.
In recent competitions leading up to MPSF Championships, Stanford has posted strong results both domestically—including a win at their own Stanford Open—and internationally against Team Canada at Elite Canada events.
Looking ahead, key returners such as Hong—a six-time NCAA champion—Kuebler (2023 floor national champion), Arun Chhetri (still rings All-American), and Marcus Kushner (two-time NCAA team champion) are expected to lead alongside new freshmen who bring national team experience.
