Stanford University announced on Apr. 10 that its men’s golf team will conclude the regular season by competing in the 79th Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California, from April 13-15.
The event is significant as Stanford seeks its third team title of the season and aims to extend its record for most team titles at this tournament. The Cardinal enters the competition ranked No. 18 nationally and will face a field that includes top teams such as No. 13 Pepperdine, No. 22 Arizona, and several other ranked programs.
Pasatiempo Golf Club is known for its challenging layout and historic design dating back to 1929. The tournament will use a play six, keep five format over three days with rolling starts beginning each morning at 8 a.m., and live scoring will be available through Scoreboard by Clippd.
Stanford’s lineup features Jay Leng (No. 62), Dean Greyserman (No. 136), Nathan Wang (No. 112), Edan Cui (No.180), Ethan Gao, Cooper Stearns, and individual competitor Kush Arora. The Cardinal recently secured their second win of the season at The Goodwin tournament with standout performances from Leng, Greyserman, Wang, and Gao.
Historically, Stanford has achieved considerable success at the Western Intercollegiate with twelve team titles—tied for most with host San Jose State—and nine individual championships since the event’s inception. Their last victory came in 2024; Isaiah Salinda was their most recent individual champion in this tournament back in 2019.
Looking ahead, Stanford’s young roster includes highly-ranked freshmen who have already contributed strong results this season across various tournaments nationwide.
