Stanford University’s lightweight rowing team competed against Princeton on April 11, securing a win in the Varsity 2x event but falling short in the Varsity Eight and Four races, which resulted in Princeton taking the Class of 2015 Cup.

The regatta took place at Redwood Shores, California, where gusty winds and intermittent rain created challenging conditions for both teams. Stanford’s pair of Maddy Dodge (stroke) and Zadie Diniz (bow) led the Cardinal to victory in the Varsity Double, finishing four seconds ahead of their Princeton counterparts with a time of 8:20.54.

Despite this success, Stanford’s varsity eight finished second with a time of 7:04.4, while the varsity four also placed second at 8:09.31. Both boats showed improvement compared to their season-opening performance earlier in Tennessee.

The results meant that Princeton claimed overall honors for the day by winning both the eight and four events. The race was marked by competitive spirit despite difficult weather conditions.

Stanford is scheduled to return to competition on Saturday, April 18 at the Big Ten Invite hosted in Gold River, California.
