Stanford’s women’s lacrosse team will play against Elon on April 12 as part of the final stretch of its regular season schedule. The match, set for noon Eastern Time at Rudd Field in Elon, North Carolina, comes after Stanford suffered its third loss of the year against North Carolina.
This matchup is important as it offers Stanford an opportunity to regain momentum before the postseason. The Cardinal currently holds a strong national ranking and has demonstrated consistent performance throughout the season.
In their previous game, Stanford started strong against No. 2 North Carolina with early goals from Aliya Polisky and Martha Oakey but ultimately lost 18-9 after a late scoring run by UNC. Six different players scored for Stanford during that game, with Polisky joining Annabel Frist and Lexi Rodell as two-goal contributors. Defensively, Frist became Stanford’s all-time leader in draw controls with her 376th career win in that category while Rylee Bouvier tied for sixth all-time in caused turnovers at Stanford.
Polisky leads the team this season with 33 goals and 54 points overall, having also recorded a career-high 21 assists. Ava Arceri follows closely behind in scoring, while Mallory Hasselbeck has posted impressive numbers despite missing recent games due to injury. Nine different players have reached double digits in goals this year.
On defense, Bouvier and Kate Bellissimo have led the team in caused turnovers and ground balls respectively, both achieving top-10 marks all-time for single-season performances at Stanford. In goalkeeping duties, Ella Morton has started five recent games while Lucy Pearson began the first nine games of the season; Pearson holds one of the best career goals-against averages in program history.
