Stanford University announced on April 1 that the Stanford Invitational track and field competition will take place this Friday and Saturday at Cobb Track & Angell Field.

The event is significant as it marks the return of nearly 24 hours of collegiate athletics to The Farm, with a large contingent of student-athletes participating. It also serves as the first of three major meets hosted by Stanford this season, ahead of the Big Meet on April 11 and the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 1.

According to Stanford, a total of 56 Cardinal athletes—33 women and 23 men—are entered in this weekend’s meet. Of these, 31 will be making their outdoor season debuts. Notable debutants include Alyssa Jones, who recently finished in the top three for both long jump and high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, along with indoor All-Americans Juliette Whittaker and Sophia Kennedy from the current year.

The two-day event begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. and continues until approximately 11:30 p.m., before resuming Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Events span sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, relays, and distance races for both men’s and women’s teams throughout each day. Live results will be provided by Record Timing through their website rt.trackscoreboard.com.

This invitational has been held since 1975 according to information released by Stanford University. The upcoming competitions provide an opportunity for student-athletes to open or advance their outdoor seasons in front of home supporters.

Looking ahead, fans can expect further action from Stanford track & field when they host additional meets later in April and May.
