The Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame will induct 10 former student-athletes this fall, with the ceremony set for Friday, September 26. Public recognition of the new class will occur during the football game against San Jose State on Saturday, September 27.

This year’s inductees are Sarah Beeson Anderson (softball), Erin Burdette (women’s tennis), David DeCastro (football), Ryan Garko (baseball), Dan Gill (men’s gymnastics), Kiley Neushul (women’s water polo), Kelley O’Hara (women’s soccer), Jeanette Pohlen (women’s basketball), Chasson Randle (men’s basketball) and Tank Williams (football).

Student-athletes become eligible for induction a decade after their final season. The selection process weighs collegiate athletic success, academic achievement, professional career honors, character, representation of Stanford University and contributions to sport and society. Inductees must attend the ceremony in person.

According to Stanford Athletics, “All 10 inductees were honored as All-Americans, combining for 30 honors overall. Two inductees were members of an NCAA championship team while two inductees claimed NCAA individual titles. Five inductees were honored as their sport’s national player of the year. Six inductees led their team to a conference championship while five inductees were named their conference’s player of the year. Three inductees were recognized as CSC Academic All-Americans. Two inductees were Olympic medalists, combining for three medals overall (two gold, one bronze).”

Following this induction class, the Hall of Fame will include 490 individuals—33 of whom are multi-sport athletes.

The Hall was founded by Walt Gamage in 1954 when he was sports editor at the Palo Alto Times.

Among those being inducted is Ryan Garko from baseball, who played from 2000-03 and becomes the program’s 50th Hall of Famer and first since Carlos Quentin in 2024. Garko helped lead Stanford to four NCAA College World Series appearances and earned several individual honors including First-Team All-American in his senior season.

Other notable honorees include Sarah Beeson Andersen from softball; Erin Burdette from women’s tennis; David DeCastro and Tank Williams from football; Dan Gill from men’s gymnastics; Kiley Neushul from women’s water polo; Kelley O’Hara from women’s soccer; Jeanette Pohlen from women’s basketball; and Chasson Randle from men’s basketball.

Inductee accomplishments range across NCAA championships, Olympic medals, professional careers in major leagues such as MLB and NFL, coaching roles at Stanford or elsewhere after graduation, and academic achievements such as CSC Academic All-America selections.

“Inductees must attend the ceremony in person,” according to Stanford Athletics.

After this year’s additions, the Hall continues its tradition that began with its inaugural class announced on December 21, 1954.
